This past Sunday I had the opportunity to go onto the YouTube channel What Your Pastor Didn’t Tell You to talk about undesigned coincidences, specifically in the context of a back-and-forth between Wes Huff and Dan McClellan and a video Erik Manning published in response to McClellan. I have serious reservations about UCs in the Gospels, particularly because I think there is a literary relationship between all of them that precludes any notion of their independence. I am not in principle opposed to the existence of UCs because they are a feature of the real world. (Lydia McGrew has made the case for that quite well.) But when it comes to texts, especially texts like the Gospels that show an awareness of one another, UCs become night to impossible to demonstrate.
In any event, I really appreciate Zach having me on, even though I feel like a fraud every time I talk about just about anything. I also had some microphone issues, which didn’t help. Despite my problems, Zach carried me and on the conversation onward and I am thankful he did. If you haven’t subscribed to his channel, don’t let my appearance on it put you off!
