Smith’s excellent article reminded me of a piece Mike Lewis published over at Where Peter Is a couple of years ago. Lewis artfully outlined key historical and current factors causing the unmistakable and worrisome overlap in the Venn diagram of “Christ is king” weaponization, Catholic integralism, and antisemitism.

On the one hand, it’s reassuring that modern Catholic Church leadership has routinely opposed this sort of rad-trad, sectarian flapdoodle, consistent with the principles of Vatican II (Dignitatus humanae specifically). But on the other hand, it’s troubling that millions of people nevertheless continue to consume toxic, Father Coughlin-style rhetoric spewed by the likes of Nick Fuentes and Candace Owens.
