An examination of one of my favorite contradictions in the Bible. Did Jesus tell his opponents he would not give a sign to them (Mark 8:11-13) or did he refuse to give any sign except one – the sign of Jonah (Matthew 16:1-4)?
One Comment on “A Request for a Sign from Heaven (Errant Bible #2)”
“No sign” and “no sign except the sign of Jonah” presumably meant the same thing until Matthew decided to try to read Jesus rising from the dead into it. In doing so Matthew introduces the bigger contradiction between “three days and three nights in the belly of the earth” and a story of Jesus being crucified on Friday and raised on Sunday.
